What an incredible place to stay!
Sonia and her husband Paolo were awesome hosts. We were greeted with such a warm welcome from the two that we immediately wanted to prolonge the stay as we felt the three nights we planned would be to short. They where always at our disposal if needed and responded right away but also made sure that we had our privacy.
The country house had everything we needed, the kitchen was perfectly equipped and one can tell that every detail in and around the house was made with love.
Thank you Sonia and Paolo for being such pleasant hosts. We really enjoyed our time and would definitely love to come back one day.
The pictures of the house and the property didn’t lie; the country house was cosy, lovely decorated, equipped for all needs and the owners provided us with a very warm welcome. Sonia was always there for us and provided us with shopping, beach or sightseeing recommendations.
You can spend here very relaxing and peaceful days surrounded by olive trees, beautiful landscape and the great pool!
We would definitely come back! Thank you very much for having us, it was a perfect stay.
We highly recommend this cosy country house. We have nothing to complain about.
I am delighted to share the most exquisite travel experience of my life!
I’m an American citizen desire to explore my Calabrese heritage and found an Airbnb in Locri, a town not too far from where my ancestors held from.
I was first drawn to this particular Airbnb because of the hostess Sonia, who is also an attorney like myself.
Upon first arriving, I was greeted by Paolo and Sonia, my host and hostess, who I am now probably being my friends.
My first impression of the surrounding area at Villa Clelia is that of a vast Roman estate, including olive trees, various fruit trees, prickly pear and for the true Italian aficionado, “nespole” trees.
The estate is nestled in the countryside near the base of picturesque ancient Gerace and also the Villa is within 2 miles of the ancient ruins of Locri Epizephiri , a Greek archaeological settlement.
Although the Villa is located in the countryside, beautiful beaches are within 1 mile from the residence, also accessible to fine dining, convenience stores, pharmacies, etc.
The house itself provides all the modern conveniences you would expect, there is a full-size kitchen with all the utilities and much more.
There is a full dining room as well as a beautiful and tranquil patio where meals and snacks may all be taken.
What I particularly enjoyed was sitting on the patio in the morning and early evening just relaxing and enjoying the landscape.
The bedroom is cozy and extremely comfortable.
The bathroom is pristine clean. Words, simply cannot describe the luxury an indulgence you will experience at VIlla Clelia.
However the real charm of this whole unique and utterly satisfying experience are the host.
If you were seeking an experience filled with raw nature, luxurious surroundings, great food and down-home hospitality, this is the place!
Calabrian Oasis
I recently had the pleasure of staying in Country House Villa Clelia hosted by the lovely Paolo and Sonia. This hidden gem in the Calabrian countryside is everything you want your AirBnB to be and more. Kind, thoughtful and helpful hosts. Gorgeous outside area with and an impeccably maintained lawn, garden and ancient olive trees. Beautiful patio with lounge chairs and dining table, completely and subtly lit, for all your alfresco dining adventures. The apartment itself is understated luxury personified. Upon entering I found waiting for me a complementary bottle of wine, WARM homemade bread, local tomatoes and hot peppers. The kitchen was fully stocked with every imaginable pot, pan, dish, and utensil. There is a separate closet with a washing machine and sink. The bedroom is lush and tranquil with the most comfy bed that I’ve slept in other than mine at home. The living room area is large and airy. If I had another person staying with me, they could have slept on the sofa which converts into a pull out bed. The elegant bathroom is large and comfortable with plush towels. They even gave me a toothbrush!! Attention has been given to the smallest of details. I wanted for nothing during my stay. Paolo and Sonia gave me plenty of recommendations for places to eat and local sights to visit. The beach, stunning Ionian sea and the ancient medieval town of Gerace can be reached within 10 minutes of the BnB. None should be missed. My stay here was a complete JOY! If you want to really get away from it all and enjoy a part Italy that is still pristine and undiscovered, stay here!!! It’s heavenly.
